Frequently asked questions

Questions are part of the process.

What happens during the free consultation?+

We will spend about 30 minutes talking generally about what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether my approach may fit your needs. It is a low-pressure conversation, not a therapy session or intake.

What happens during the first session?+

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and better understand what brings you to therapy. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, relationships, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You will not be expected to share everything at once, particularly experiences that feel difficult or overwhelming.

Do you offer telehealth or in-person therapy?+

I offer telehealth to clients located anywhere in California and in-person therapy at two locations: 1765 Goodyear Ave., Suite 201, Ventura, CA 93003, and 22 West Micheltorena St., Suite A, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.

How do I know if EMDR is right for me?+

EMDR may be helpful if past experiences, relationships, beliefs, or patterns continue to disrupt your daily life. I use EMDR for relational and complex trauma, single-incident trauma, and symptoms such as anxiety, shame, low self-worth, or feeling stuck in the same reactions. We will determine together whether it fits your goals.

How long does therapy last?+

There is no single timeline. We collaborate on your goals and check in about progress. My approach is relationship-centered and depth-oriented.

Do you accept insurance?+

No. I am a private-pay provider. Private-pay therapy allows us to make decisions about the structure, focus, and length of your care based on individual need. Upon request, I can provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends upon your plan.

Is therapy confidential?+

Therapy is generally confidential, with specific legal and ethical exceptions involving safety and other required disclosures. We will review confidentiality and its limits before beginning.

What if we are not the right fit?+

Finding the right therapist matters, and feeling comfortable with your provider is crucial. If another provider may be better suited or your concerns are outside of my scope, I will be honest and offer referrals or helpful direction.

How quickly will I hear back?+

I respond within 1–2 business days. Messages are not continuously monitored and should never be used for emergency or crisis needs.
